Joop Corstjens Joop Corstjens founded Corstjens in 1946 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During the early years, the company was primarily active in Amsterdam and environs. Corstjens quickly gained a reputation as a good and reliable removal company and then expanded its operations to offer moves throughout the Netherlands. And from 1960 the company also began to operate across the Dutch frontiers.
So what began as a small local company grew into an international relocation organisation with regular moves to Germany, France and Spain. More and more people in more and more countries were becoming aware of the company's good name.
In the late 1970s Corstjens recognized new opportunities outside of Western Europe, primarily in Central and Eastern Europe. During this period Western countries deployed their first diplomats to Eastern Europe to make preparations for future economic investment. Corstjens began with relocating diplomats to locations in Central and Eastern Europe. In the early 1980s Corstjens established its first branch offices in Prague, Moscow, Budapest, Bucharest and Warsaw. Important political developments such as Perestroika and the fall of the Berlin Wall paved the way for the company's rapid development. In the 1990s the Amsterdam family business Corstjens has grown into an international company that was handling large multinational projects.
